N°2 | 1998 THE ITALIAN MUSEUM OF CAST IRON OPENS TO THE PUBLIC

A charming setting in Longiano for the first permanent exhibition

The Italian Museum of Cast Iron has been based in Longiano since June 20 1998. The little 18th century church of Santa Maria delle Lacrime now houses some of the collection’s more prestigious pieces.

This issue of the magazine is entirely dedicated to this first exhibition set-up and is organised as a catalogue. Each element is presented with images showing its details, with information regarding where the piece came from, how widespread it was used, period photographs and references to catalogues from the foundries that produced these amazing artefacts.
